God’s Wisdom on Display

“So that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.  This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Ephesians 3:10-11)

We realize that our God is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-good, ever-present, and all-wise. When we consider the wisdom of the Almighty, our minds might contemplate a variety of things that display the awesome attributes of Deity. We likely would speak of his wisdom in ordering the universe, in creating the human body, in bringing man and woman together in marriage, or in any number of other ways. Have you ever tried to think of the ultimate show of God’s wisdom? Scripture tells us that it is by the church that his wisdom is fully revealed! While many decry and downplay the importance of the church, the word of God speaks of its value, its importance, its significance in God’s plan to redeem man through Jesus. Jesus shed his blood to purchase the church (Acts 20:28) and loved her so that he gave himself for her (Eph.5:25). The fact that our heavenly Father orchestrated a plan by which sinful man could be reconciled to him in one body by the cross speaks of a wisdom that is beyond anything man could originate. The ultimate display of the wisdom of God is the precious church of his dear Son!

“Gracious God, we love you and praise you for allowing us to be reconciled to you in the body of Christ. Thank you for revealing your matchless wisdom to us through the glorious church of our Lord. Father, help us to see the church as you see it and to love it as you love it. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.”
